'Amityville' Remake Now Titled Amityville: The Awakening

Amityville: The Awakening

Dimension Films and Blumhouse Productions' long-in-development horror remake, Amityville is now titled Amityville: The Awakening. The project was originally titled The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes.

In Amityville: The Awakening, Jennifer Jason Leigh (Single White Female) stars as a single mother, with teenagers played by Bella Thorne (Blended) and Cameron Monaghan (Showtime's Shameless), who are terrorized by demonic forces after moving into an infamous house that was the site of a grisly mass-murder.

The new film is based on the 1977 book "The Amityville Horror: A True Story" by Jay Anson. The first film adaptation, The Amityville Horror (1979) was followed by two more theatrically released installments, several direct-to-video sequels, and a 2005 big-screen remake.
