Chloe Moretz to Headline Universal’s Live-Action The Little Mermaid
According to Variety Chloë Grace Moretz (Carrie, If I Stay) is set to headline a live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
Working Title and Universal will release the film based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.
Richard Curtis (Love Actually) is in talks to write the script but no director is currently attached. Earlier this year, director Sofia Coppola left the project due to creative differences with the studios.
It’s still unknown how Universal’s live-action version will compare to Disney’s 1989 animated classic.
First published in 1837, Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ follows a mermaid who wished to become human after falling in love with a man she saved from drowning.
