Dean Cain and Helen Slater Join CBS's Supergirl

Superhero alums Dean Cain and Helen Slater have joined the cast of the CBS Supergirl TV pilot.

Dean Cain played Clark Kent/Superman in the hit 1990s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and Helen Slater played Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in the 1984 box office flop Supergirl.

According to Deadline.com, Dean Cain and Helen Slater are set to guest star in what is described only as "mystery roles."

They join previously announced Melissa Benoist (Glee, Whiplash) as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) as media mogul Cat Grant, Laura Benanti (Nashville) as Supergirl's Kryptonian birth mother Alura Zor-El, Mehcad Brooks (Necessary Roughness) as photographer James Olsen, David Harewood (Homeland) as Hank Henshaw head of Department of Extranormal Operations (D.E.O.) and Chyler Leigh (Grey's Anatomy) as Kara's foster sister Alexandra "Alex" Danvers.

Based on the DC Comics characters, 'Supergirl' centers on Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist). Since arriving on Earth, the Krypton-born Kara has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she always was meant to be.
