Gary Ross Will Not Direct The Hunger Games Sequel

photoThe Hunger Games director confirms his departure. Gary Ross has decided not to direct Catching Fire, the second installment in Lionsgate’s blockbuster The Hunger Games franchise.

In a statement late Tuesday, Ross blamed the production schedule. “As a writer and a director, I simply don’t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule,” Ross said.

The post-apocalyptic action-adventure The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which will see the return of Jennifer Lawrence as heroine Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta and Liam Hemsworth as Gale, is slated for a November 2013 release. Source: AP
