Naomi Watts and Daniel Dae Kim Join ‘Divergent’ Sequel, ‘Insurgent’
Oscar nominee Naomi Watts and Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-0, Lost) have joined the cast of Summit Entertainment’s upcoming The Divergent Series: Insurgent. Watts has been cast as Evelyn, a character who will play a major part in both Insurgent and its two sequels, Allegiant – Part 1 and Allegiant – Part 2. Kim has come aboard as Jack Kang, a representative of the Candor faction. They join series newcomer Octavia Spencer as Johanna, the leader of the Amity faction, opposite Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Kate Winslet. Based on the second book in author Veronica Roth’s New York Times bestselling trilogy, the dystopian action-adventure continues the journey of Tris Prior (Woodley) as war now looms. Sides will be chosen, secrets will emerge, and Tris will risk everything as she struggles to harness her incredible power.
INSURGENT raises the stakes for Tris as she searches for allies and answers in the dystopian ruins of a futuristic Chicago. Tris (Woodley) and Four (James) are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine (Winslet), the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris, with Four at her side, faces one impossible challenge after another as they unlock the truth about the past and ultimately the future of their world.
