Jim Carrey Joins Kick-Ass 2

photoDirector Jeff Wadlow has confirmed rumors that long-time Kick Ass comic book fan Jim Carrey has joined the cast of the superhero sequel Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Walls, starring Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

Wadlow tweeted to his followers on Twitter "6 days till we start shooting… and we officially have our Colonel. Alrighty f'n then!" A nod to the comedian's Ace Ventura catchphrase. Carrey will play Colonel Stars, a military-themed leader who founds the "real life" superhero team "Justice Forever."

Director Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass (2010) grossed $100M worldwide at the box office from a production budget of $28M. Vaughn's MARV Films is financing the sequel and Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down) is directing.

The sequel is based on Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s recent Kick-Ass 2 comic miniseries and the spinoff Hit-Girl. Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Walls is slated to arrive in theaters on June 28, 2013.
