Katherine Waterston Joins Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Forest Whitaker photo'Inherent Vice' star Katherine Waterston has joined the cast of Warner Bros. 'Harry Potter' spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, based on the textbook written by J.K. Rowling.

The planned trilogy stars Academy Award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything). David Yates (director of the last four 'Harry Potter' films) will direct from J.K. Rowling's screenplay.

Waterston will play an American witch named Porpentina a.k.a. Tina. She meets Newt Scamander (Redmayne) when he stops in New York City on his travels to find and document magical creatures.

The story follows Newt Scamander, the Wizarding World's preeminent magizoologist, who in his travels has encountered and documented a myriad of magical creatures, ultimately leading to his penning the Hogwarts School textbook "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
