‘Man of Steel’ Flies to Metropolis, Daily Planet

MetropolisMan of Steel Production takes over the Chicago Loop. Filming of the new Superman reboot, Man of Steel, resumes in the City of Chicago on Wednesday through September 17. The Chicago Board of Trade Building has reportedly been selected as the exterior of Metropolis newspaper The Daily Planet. Interior shots will take place inside The Willis Tower, formerly the Sears Tower.

In the film, born on the doomed planet Krypton but raised on Earth, mild-mannered newspaper reporter Clark Kent (Cavill) must become the superhero known as “Superman” to defend the world against two other surviving Kryptonians, the tyrannical General Zod (Michael Shannon) and his evil partner Faora (Antje Traue). ‘Man of Steel’ is scheduled to open in theaters on June 14, 2013.
