Plot Details

‘Ouija’ is a film adaptation of the classic Hasbro board game which centers around a young couple that unwittingly unleash an evil spirit after communicating with it through a Ouija board. Screenwriters Juliet Snowden and Stiles White (The Possession, Knowing) have been hired to rewrite and direct the supernatural horror thriller. The Ouija board game has sold over 12 million copies since Parker Bros. debuted the game in 1966, and Hasbro acquired the property in 1991. Blumhouse Productions (Paranormal Activity), Platinum Dunes (Friday the 13th) and Hasbro (Transformers, Battleship) will produce.

July 16, 2012 – Knowing Writers to Direct Ouija. Universal Pictures has tapped screenwriting team Juliet Snowden and Stiles White (The Possession, Knowing) to rewrite and direct the low-budget, supernatural horror adaptation of Hasbro’s board game Ouija. (Variety)

November 29, 2011 – Fright Night Writer to Pen Ouija Screenplay. Platinum Dunes has hired Marti Noxon to rewrite the script for the adaptation of Hasbro’s board game Ouija. Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) most recently wrote the remake of ‘Fright Night’. (THR)

January 5, 2011 – McG to direct ‘Ouija’, a film adaptation of the classic Hasbro board game. Terminator Salvation director McG has been chosen to direct ‘Ouija’ for Universal and is now in negotiations. Screenwriters Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (TRON: Legacy) wrote the supernatural action-adventure. (THR)
