Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch Confirmed for The Avengers 2. Director Joss Whedon has confirmed that comic book superhero siblings Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will join The Avengers 2 movie line-up. In an interview with IGN, Whedon confirmed the rumor, “You know, they had a rough beginning. They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.” In Marvel’s The Avengers 2, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow assemble to defeat the intergalactic enemy Thanos. In a bit of surprise casting, Hollywood icon Robert Redford is in talks to join Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the sequel to 2011′s Captain America: The First Avenger.

Redford would play a senior leadership role in the secret government agency S.H.I.E.L.D., reports Deadline. “Winter Soldier” would be Redford’s first foray into the world of superhero films but would reunite the actor/director with his The Horse Whisperer co-star Scarlett Johansson. See More

The Grey star Frank Grillo has landed the role of the villainous Crossbones in Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, reports Variety.

Anthony Mackie to Play Falcon in Captain America Sequel

Anthony Mackie may be joining his The Hurt Locker co-star Jeremy Renner in the Marvel Universe. Mackie is in talks to play the Falcon, one of mainstream comics’ first African-American superheroes, in the upcoming sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, reports THR.

Marvel also has plans to reintroduce the character in an upcoming animated series called Avengers Assemble. Falcon has the ability to see through the eyes of his bird Redwing and fly using a wing harness. See More
