DC Announces ‘Watchmen’ Prequel Comics

This summer, DC Entertainment will publish all-new stories expanding on the acclaimed Watchmen universe. The seven inter-connected prequel mini-series will build on the foundation of the original Watchmen, the bestselling graphic novel of all time. Before Watchmen will be the collective banner for all seven titles, from DC Comics.

Each week, a new issue will be released, and will feature a two-page back-up story called Curse Of The Crimson Corsair, written by original series editor Len Wein and with art by original series colorist John Higgins. There will also be a single issue, Before Watchmen: Epilogue, featuring the work of various writers and artists, and a Crimson Corsair story by Wein and Higgins. See More

The Crow (Reboot)

The Crow Reboot Gets a Writer and Director. Relativity and The Weinstein Company’s Dimension Films have signed F. Javier Gutiérrez (Before The Fall) to direct a reinvention of The Crow, the 1994 smash hit film based on the comic book series and comic strip by James O’Barr. Writer Jesse Wigutow has signed on to pen the script. The Crow adaptation will be a gritty reboot of the iconic character Eric Draven, who returns from the grave as The Crow on a mission to avenge his wife’s murder, so that his soul can finally rest. Model Marissa Miller Joins R.I.P.D.. Victoria’s Secret model Marissa Miller has joined the cast of Universal’s supernatural action-comedy ‘R.I.P.D.’ starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. Miller will play a physical body that Jeff Bridges enters when his character is in his earthly form. ‘R.I.P.D.’ is based on the Dark Horse comic book by Peter Lenkov. In the film, Nick Cruz (Reynolds), a murdered cop, joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department in exchange for a shot at finding the unknown assailant who killed him. Dredd Gets a Release Date. Lionsgate Films has announced an official release date for its Judge Dredd reboot ‘Dredd’, starring Karl Urban, Lena Headey and Olivia Thirlby. Priest DVD and Blu-ray Announced. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced Blu-ray and DVD releases of the post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller ‘Priest’ which stars Paul Bettany, Lily Collins and Karl Urban. ‘Priest’ will be available to own in a Rated DVD, Unrated Blu-ray and Unrated 3D Blu-ray on August 16, 2011. Special Features will include deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and more. The 3D Blu-ray release will include a 3D exploration of the vehicles and weapons in the film. Based on the graphic novel series by Min-Woo Hyung, ‘Priest’ centers on a warrior priest (Bettany) who defies the church to chase down a band of vampires who kidnapped his niece.
