Avatar DVD, Blu-ray Get April Release

Fox Home Entertainment has announced the DVD and Blu-ray release of director James Cameron’s sci-fi blockbuster ‘Avatar’ starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver. Avatar will reach shelves on a Thursday as opposed to the traditional Tuesday release day, so it can coincide with Earth Day.

Both the DVD and Blu-ray release will be a 2D bare-bones release with no extras, trailers or studio promotions to take full advantage of the disc space for the best picture and sound possible. Fox promises you will be “blown away” by the clarity, color and depth of the image. A pricier multi-disc “Ultimate Edition” disc will bow in November, while a “3D Blu-ray Edition” of the film will also eventually hit homevideo next year. See More
