Watch out Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson is returning to the Spider-Man film franchise along with Harry Osborn and a new supervillain.
The Descendants star Shailene Woodley is in early talks to play Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker’s redheaded love interest, in Sony Pictures’ and director Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.
MJ was last played by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy. Woodley is pursuing more movie offers now that her long running ABC Family teen drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager is coming to end after five seasons in March 2013.
The studio is also seeking an actor to play Harry Osborn, Peter Parker’s best friend and eventual enemy, played by James Franco in the first three films.
Additionally, “Electro” is rumored to be one of the supervillain’s filmmakers are considering for the next installment of the hit comic book franchise. Source: Variety
