The Expendables 3 Release Date Announced

Lionsgate has announced the release date for the highly anticipated sequel The Expendables 3. The 3rd installment of the hit ensemble action franchise stars Sylvester Stallone with Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich in negotiations to join the cast.

Australian filmmaker Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) will direct The Expendables 3 with production due to begin in August 2013. The film is set to open in theaters on August 15, 2014. In The Expendables 3, Barney Ross (Stallone) and his team of old-school mercenaries embark on another clandestine operation for the CIA.

Also today, Lionsgate again moved the release date for director Mikael Håfström's Escape Plan from September 13 to October 18, 2013. The action thriller, formerly titled "The Tomb," stars Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Jim Caviezel, Amy Ryan, Vincent D'Onofrio, Vinnie Jones and Sam Neil.

The story follows Ray Breslin (Stallone), the world's foremost authority on structural and prison security. After being framed by persons unknown, Breslin must escape from a high-tech prison facility that's design is based on his own protocols.
