British filmmaker Joshua Newton has cast newcomer Charlotte Kirk (Non-Stop) to play Nicole Brown Simpson in his planned “trial of the century” biopic, An American Mystery.
The “whodunit” thriller will take a fresh look at the Simpson saga and O.J.’s controversial acquittal.
An American Mystery could be released next summer, in time for the 20-year anniversary of the infamous 1994 double murder.
Newton will write and direct the $65 million feature film.
Kirk will portray Nicole Brown from when she first met famous football star O.J. Simpson as an 18 year-old in 1977 to her untimely death alongside Ron Goldman.
The film will introduce startling new evidence (including other suspects) in the sensational case, which featured a gruesome crime scene, an infamous car chase, a celebrity defendant and a televised trial fraught with racial sensitivity that was the most viewed judicial proceeding in the history of American television.
