Superman is getting a new mom. Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer, best known for starring alongside Tom Hanks in Angels & Demons, is set to replace actress Julia Ormond in Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder. Ormond exited the production for known reasons.
Zurer will play Superman’s biological Kryptonian mother Lara Lor-Van, and wife of Jor-El, played by Russell Crowe. Currently in production, ‘Man of Steel’ is filming in Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
“I’m very happy and excited,” Zurer told the Israeli website Ynet News on Sunday, adding, “I still can’t elaborate about the role I’ll be playing.”
‘Man of Steel’ stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, and Laurence Fishburne as her editor-in-chief, Perry White. Starring as Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent, are Diane Lane and Kevin Costner. ‘Man of Steel’ is slated for release on June 14, 2013. (Deadline)
