Halle Berry Returns for X-Men: Days of Future Past

X-MenDirector Bryan Singer has confirmed that original X-Men trilogy star Halle Berry will reprise her role in X-Men: Days of Future Past, the follow-up to 2011's X-Men: First Class.

"Couldn't be more excited that #HalleBerry has joined the cast of #XMen #DaysofFuturePast. Hopefully she can improve the weather in Montreal.," tweeted Bryan Singer.

Halle Berry will return as Storm, a powerful mutant with the ability to manipulate the weather and generate lightning. Days of Future Past will be Berry's fourth time playing the character. Storm first appeared in the famous 1975 Giant Size X-Men #1 comic.

Berry joins original-trilogy cast members Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore with X-Men: First Class stars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and James McAvoy.

The film is inspired by Chris Claremont and John Byrne's comic book storyline that ran in "Uncanny X-Men" #141 and 142 back in 1981. "Days of Future Past" introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel's mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled to be released by 20th Century Fox on July 18, 2014.
