Man of Steel, Iron Man 3, The Hobbit, Breaking Dawn II, After Earth Coming to Comic-Con 2012

Superman photoHollywood studios announce plans to bring their tentpole films to the annual Comic-Con International: San Diego 2012, which runs July 12 – 15 (Preview Night on July 11).

Summit Entertainment is expected to bring the final installment of the popular Twilight film franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner to the Con. Lionsgate will bring Stallone's all-star action sequel The Expendables 2 and possibly its Judge Dredd remake Dredd.

Disney/Marvel Studios is expected to bring Iron Man 3, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Ben Kingsley. Additionally, Walt Disney Pictures will introduce its upcoming 3D animated Wreck-It Ralph, The Wizard of Oz prequel Oz: The Great and Powerful, and possibly The Lone Ranger, starring Johnny Depp.

Warner Bros. Pictures has reserved a three-hour block at Hall H, the biggest room at the Convention, on Saturday, July 14. The studio is expected to present a first-look at next summer's Superman reboot Man of Steel and new footage from Peter Jackson's highly anticipated 3D adventure The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Legendary Pictures plans to join distributor partner Warner Bros. with a preview of Guillermo del Toro's robot jockey adventure Pacific Rim.

Sony Pictures, will likely bring Joseph Gordon-Levitt's bike-messenger action-thriller Premium Rush and director M. Night Shyamalan's post-apocalyptic fantasy After Earth, starring Will and Jaden Smith. Additionally, the studio may possibly give an extended look at the sci-fi remake Total Recall.

Universal Pictures, which still hasn't confirmed its participation, could bring the comic book adaptation R.I.P.D., starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, Bourne spin-off The Bourne Legacy, and Keanu Reeves long-delayed samurai epic 47 Ronin. Source: Variety
