Warner Bros. Consumer Products has announced that Mattel will launch a Man of Steel toy collection in late spring based on the new Zack Snyder-directed movie, as well as a non-movie themed lines, including Fisher-Price brands.
Mattel, Lego, Thinkway, Rubie’s Costume Co., Hallmark, Junk Food Clothing Co., Bioworld and Converse will produce toys, costumes, ornaments, party goods and apparel for Man of Steel.
Opening in 3D, 2D in select theaters, and IMAX 3D on June 14, the superhero adventure stars: Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Russell Crowe, Michael Kelly, Harry Lennix and Richard Schiff.
In the film, a young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, Clark Kent (Cavill) journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do.
But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation by two other surviving Kryptonians — the tyrannical General Zod (Shannon) and his evil partner Faora (Traue). Clark Kent must become Superman, the symbol of hope for all mankind.
